This May Explain A Few Things…

My entire life and lifestyle can be traced to the first three Broadway shows I saw.

  1. Peter Pan – It was a class trip. I saw it with Sandy Duncan at the original Helen Hayes Theatre on 46th Street. Which, just so happens – fun fact – was destroyed, along with four other theaters – to build the Marriott Marquis Hotel, where I currently work at the ticket desk
  2. Dreamgirls - Original Cast! I saw it with my mother, I wonder knew it was going to have such adult themes. I don’t think she would have brought me if she knew. I have a vivid memory of questioning my mother the next day, in our basement laundry room, folding towels, but not asking about the whole unwed mother storyline or all the drug use, no, I just couldn’t wrap my head around how do the doves knew the right time to during the song to fly up to the rafters. I couldn’t understand they were trained to come back…
  3. A Chorus Line - Again, with my mother. I begged and begged to see this show, I saw it with most of the original cast, but a few years after it opened…I still have my souvenir brass ticket key chain. It was the fist time I knew what gay was…

I am fat, black woman who won’t grow up and wants nothing more than to wake-up to find she has somewhere exciting to go.

You are no longer fat or even plump or overweight. PLEASE don’t go the other way and become one of those annoying thin people who complain that they are fat when they are not!
