Weight Watchers Can Suck It! Suck It, I Say!

Vinnie Costa, over-reactor, has struck again.

When Vinnie sets his mind to something he usually sticks with it, for better or worse, today he was just treated rudely one too many times by the good folks at the Weight Watchers center in Midtown to put up with it anymore.

When a center is scheduled to close at 2:00pm, I don’t expect it to be closed at 1:45 and then made to feel like I was in the wrong.

Now listen, I loved WW and appreciate everything they’ve done for me, but I’m done. I’ve been following the program, working it, and making it work for me, for over a year and believe I can now start do it by myself. I believe I’m strong enough to deal with the emotional eating issues I’ve built up of the years and I feel as if now, finally at 41, at 35 I can start being responsible for my own actions. It’s time to be accountable for myself.

I left the center, called the main office and canceled my membership – I don’t need to pay $40.00 a month to get nothing but stress.

I’ve been working very hard to maintain the 50 pound weight loss, even starting an exercise program that is far to advanced for me and if I can’t get the support I need from the people I’m paying, why am I putting money in their pockets?

My goodness, sometimes it seems the drama just creates itself…

It’s so much easier getting fat!

According to my bathroom scale I weigh 185 pounds. I’m trying to lose another ten lbs and goddammit, I’m goin’ do it – watch out world get off-a my runway…

I’d be happy to give you nothing but stress for a lot less per month than WW!

For less out of pocket expense, I can provide a greater lack of support than WW ever did! (And they call themselves professionals?!?)

    Write me for details!

    Vinnie,
    I support you.
The important thing is, like you said, that you take what you learned about healthy eating and apply it to real life.
    You can do it.
And I also agree that if you’re paying someone for support, that they should be supporting you in a positive way.
And one thing I wanted to say about sweating. Losing water (ie through heavy sweating) does nothing for fat loss. Water weight is not sustainable weight loss. A lot of people get the two confused. The activity that you do to cause you to sweat may help you burn fat or increase your metabolism, but that’s only if the heat is created by your body from the inside. Being inside a super-heated room isn’t going to help anyone lose any fat.
And I agree that getting fat is easy. If getting fit were easy, everyone would be fit instead of everyone being fat. But, the reason that being fit is so desirable is that people know how much effort it takes. And its impressive to see someone who has done a lot of work on themselves.
    Keep up the good work.

My anti-spam word was dick. does that mean anything?

Okay here is my first last and only word of advice. Help helps. It may be WW or it may be somewhere else, but I know I don’t have to deal with all my “issues” alone and I’m glad that’s true.

  4. Vinnie Says:

@ Tom – I bet you’d be very good at it as well!
@ Jason – I thank you for all the support and advice you given me, you’re a very good exercise guru.
@ Deirdre – Agreed! Help helps. But there has to be a time when one has to start helping themselves, right?
