It Says A Lot…

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

One of my directors asked me what I did for Halloween. I told her, “I skipped Halloween this year, I wanted to watch the Yankee game.” Her response, “That one comment is so telling. I’ve learned so much about you.”

I guess it does say a lot…

I’ve never been to a World Series Game – that changes tonight!

GO YANKEES!!

Random Thought – Go Jankees!

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

I haven’t been able to get to a game the past few weeks and I notice they’re winning in – a big way…

I’m thinking, I may be a jinx!

I can’t go to the next two Sunday home games – which is killing me on the inside, especially next week against the Mets – and if the winning keeps up, I’m thinking maybe I should go wearing a disguise…

New Yankee Crush

New Yankee Crush

I’m nothing if not brand loyal – and I seem to love my first basemen~

The new Yankee #25 is my new Yankee crush – Mark Teixeria – he’s got a great arm, a wicked swing with power to spare and he’s H O T – hot!

The New York Yankees

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

One of the joys this summer has been the Yankees – yes, I know they aren’t getting to the big game this season, but it didn’t take away from the enjoyment of the game. The opportunity presented itself for me to go to more then a few Yankees games at the soon to be demolished Yankee Stadium.

Finding out one of my dearest friends was a Sunday Season Ticket holder, I turned a one-time invite into tagging along most of the season.

Suzanne, Jennifer and Rich were the perfect Baseball buddies anyone could want. If it wasn’t for them I never would’ve developed my undying obsession with Jason Giambi…

I don’t know why, but I like him; he’s not the best first baseman in the league and he can’t run very fast, but he can hit the ball like it’s nobody’s business. I understand his contract is up this year and there’s a possibility he won’t be on the team next season when they move into the new stadium.

There is just something about the way he plays and those arms…

This is where we’d eat. the best overpriced hockey puck hamburger in the five burroughs. They also had killer fries.

I love this little guy, I’d just noticed him at the last game I went to, of course, some of the lights had to be out when I was given my NEW DIGITAL CAMERA from Suzie, Jen and Rich! since I’ve probaly gone to my last game of the season, it couldn’t've come at a better time.

As I was walking to the subway after the game I passed this tree grating. I must’ve passed it a dozen times but I noticed it for the first time. I just think it’s cool. It’s a home plate.

Some of my favorite memories:

  • Foot-long hot dogs with foot-long buns.
  • Carvel in a Yankees helmet – vanilla with rainbow sprinkles.
  • Coming around the corner from the rest room – washing out the helmet – and seeing Suzanne open a bottle of frozen Diet Coke and watching it explode all over the people below out seats and hearing, "I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry!" and watching grown men in $100.00 jerseys run past me towards the bathroom to wash out the dark setting stains.
  • Getting my back scratched by Jen.
  • Getting close to Giambi.
  • The "sittin’ and a visitin’."

Until next season…

GO Jankees!

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Today I’m going to my second Yankee game of the last season at the current Yankee Stadium courtesy of lifelong friends Suzanne and Rich.

Suzanne is my oldest friend, not the oldest person I know, but the person I’ve known – and am still friends with – for the longest time.

I didn’t know they were such Yankee fans until I found out they’re Sunday Season ticket holders and go to every Sunday Yankee Home game and they’ve been doing it for years, enough so, they can get me an extra ticket when people they’ve known through meeting at the games, can’t use their tickets due to other commitments, which means I get to see the Yankees for free!

Today is umbrella day.

They are only giving out 18,000 so I’m getting there early!

Go Jankees!!!!!

Go, Jankees!

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

I got a last minute call from Tom 2 i’s-2 e’s wondering if I was free to head up to The Bronx to watch Mr. #2 hit home runs – I luvs me some Jankee, Derek Jeter – what sweetened the pot, you ask,  they’re playing the Boston Red Sox, so I knew it would be a great game.

I wasn’t disappointed, the game was great.

It turned out the Yankees lost but they sorta gave it their all.

Jeter did hit an amazing home run and our seats on the first base line gave us quite the perspective. From where we were sitting, neither one of us could tell  if the pitch was a strike or a ball, we had to dodge more than a few foul balls, but when a player hit a solid one, right up the line, it was like we could just pick the balls out of the sky.

Now let’s ask ourselves, who wouldn’t like that?

My goodness, that a mighty big tub o’ popped corn.

I took this picture just before he hit the home run.

I’ve never sat this close before. Thanks Tom!

We sat in front of a quartet of high schooler’s – who wouldn’t shut up about prom and birthday parties and blah blah blah – next to and behind us, Red Sox fans. I was hoping a fight would break out, but except for the drunk scarffing down hot dogs and screaming slurred racial slurs, every one was very well behaved.

We stayed until the end believing that the Yankees would pull one of their patiened win in the ninth inning thing, but they never did.

Big beers, mmm, very big.
