2000-ZEN
Saturday, January 2nd, 2010This year, 2000-zen – I giving up to God.
I’m releasing all my wants and desires into the universe and will take what it gives me in return – good and bad – as the gifts and learning experiences they are meant to be.
I’ll accept all that’s given to me with an open mind and an open heart and I’ll wish no ill will upon any being.
I’ll do my best to do no harm.
2000-zen; what will be – will be.
2010 – Will I?
Friday, January 1st, 2010This year, to celebrate the fact I’m being published in the upcoming Six-Word Memoir collection, I’m giving you my Six-Word Resolution:
TO BE VINNIE COSTA, ONLY BETTER.
Happy New Year!
2009 – Did I?
Thursday, December 31st, 2009In 2009, I will…
- …get an agent. No matter what it takes, I will keep sending these people post cards until they see me just to make the mailings stop.
- not for lack of trying… and I’m not stopping!
- …get another great TV gig or get into a high profile theatre production, I don’t want to seem greedy…
- Bartender Wars – the show wasn’t great, but I got three great minutes of TV…
- I did four one-acts and a cabaret, not exactly high profile but not nothing…
- I’m feeling, this is a wash…
- …take much better care of myself, start really living a healthy life, not just keep talking about it. 2009 will heretofore be known as The Bridge To The Future.
- I’ve lost fifty pounds and I’ve kept it off, as of this writing, have kept it off for four months! Whoo Hoo!
- “Bridge To The Future”? What the fuck was I thinking? Or smoking?!?
- …write that book! I have so much material to work with, so many pieces; this year, I’m going to put it all together and see exactly what I’ve got…no really I mean it this year!
- Ok, so I haven’t written it yet, but I’ve been working on it, and mean not just in my head.
- Overheard @ the Desk is being turned into a play as we speak – it’s going to be great!
- …blog and vlog on a more regular basis, I want there to be new Vinnie content on the web everyday!
- done and done.
- …to seek out more cultural events to attend.
- if seeing Broadway shows and concerts and stand-up comedy and networking events don’t count as “cultural ” events I don’t know what does…
- I did not set foot in one museum during 2009 – very bad!
- …to simplify my life, to let go of all the baggage holding me down.
- I’ve given away, thrown away or sold almost all the “crap” in my life – I’ve a bit more to do, but am this close to living simply.
- …to use my SAG card.
- nope, didn’t do that – had the fucker over a year and can’t get a contract to save my life and I missed out on all kinds of non-union work… it’s hard to admit you’ve made a bad decision and I made a bad decision to get the card.
- …reuse, recycle and reduce.
- I’m a regular recycling fool!
Merry Christmas – Love, Fat Vinnie!
Friday, December 25th, 2009My Christmas Gifts To Me
Monday, December 14th, 2009This year, instead of asking for Borders Gift cards for Christmas so I coould buy books, I just went out and bought myself a nice selection of books I’ve been wantingon the cheap from Amazon.com with some of the money I “made” from CAKE; I had to get a gift-card for someone anyway…
So, under my tree this year I’ll be finding:
- I Shudder: And Other Reactions to Life, Death, and New Jersey
- A Month of April Firsts
- You Better Not Cry: Stories for Christmas
- All I Could Bare: My Life in the Strip Clubs of Gay Washington, D.C.
- Swish: My Quest to Become the Gayest Person Ever and What Ended Up Happening Instead
- The Guinea Pig Diaries: My Life as an Experiment
- Born Round: The Secret History of a Full-time Eater
It’s a memoir a go-go! maybe it’s time for a Kindle…
Merry Christmas Vinnie!
Happy Thanksgiving

Monday, November 23rd, 2009National Coming Out Day
Sunday, October 11th, 2009On This Day…
Saturday, October 3rd, 2009…twenty one years ago, I was introduced to a person who can only be described as the love of my life; a person for whom I would move Heaven and Earth.
If I had the world I would give it to her.

My Donna is 21 years old today. Twenty-one. I remember she was born when I was a senior at Niagara University and today, she is a senior at Hartwick College, a senior, soon to be venturing out into the great big world.
I can only hope to help her on her journey.
On This Day…
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009…about 40 years ago, give or take, my sister, Cristina was born.

The mother of two wonderful girls, a talented woman in her own right and the best big sister anyone could want.
Happy Birthday, Cristina. I hope for you only the best, now and always.
Happy Labor Day

My Mother’s Birthday
Monday, August 10th, 2009My Mother’s turns 64 today!
I traveled out to the mothership to celebrate my mother birthday. It was a small family gathering, with great food and great company.
My mother has taken up a new hobby, bike riding. But she’s a Costa, she has to do it slightly off-kilter – her bike is a three-wheeler!
Here is a copy of an email my mother sent out – I think it explains so much about me…
HI,
Love to all of you, I wanted to let you know if you are in this area watch out for people on 3 wheel bikes. a very beautiful chubby diva was sighted on Lincoln street last Friday night heading toward Jackson and nearly at speeding pace made it to Rhodes Street by that time she gained momentum and made her final destination 20 min. later to Lincoln St.
by that time she was a little red in her face and proceeded to take a big nap before going to bed. The next day when she noticed she wasn’t dreaming, she was happy that one of her dreams came true. She was begging to taste what fun was once again.
Don’t stop dreaming dreams do come true when we believe.
Love Me
I love you.
